Manufacturing & Lifecycle
Manufacturing Process
Centrifugal casting of ductile cast iron using a cupola furnace with steel scrap and recycled material melted with coke. Silicon carbide added as alloying agent. Magnesium treatment for ductility. Pipes are centrifugally cast, heat treated, zinc coated by arc spray, cement mortar lined, and coated with solvent-free two-component polyurethane.
Packaging
Pipes are closed with caps, stacked with wooden spacers and PET bands for transport. All packaging materials are thermally recyclable.
Use Phase
No relevant material or energy flows during use phase under proper planning and installation.
End of Life
Pipes are mostly fully removed and recycled with a 97% recycling rate. 3% go to landfill. Dismantling uses same equipment as installation.
